Role overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Local Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting, tax and statutory filings of Explera Hong Kong. You will work from our Hong Kong office with the group finance team, who handle consolidation and cash management, and with our external auditors and tax advisers.

Explera Hong Kong pays hotels, transport companies and guides every day and invoices partners in several currencies, so accuracy and timeliness are critical.

Key responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping & reconciliations

• Record and reconcile supplier invoices, partner receipts and bank accounts
• Manage multi-currency receivables and payables, including exchange differences
• Follow up overdue partner payments with the sales team

2. Month-end closing & reporting

• Run month-end closing within the group timetable
• Prepare management accounts and variance commentary for the country manager and group finance
• Support intercompany billing and reconciliations with our Hong Kong headquarters

3. Tax & statutory compliance

• Prepare and file Hong Kong tax and statutory returns accurately and on time
• Keep statutory registers and supporting documents audit-ready
• Monitor changes in local tax rules and flag their impact

4. Payroll & audit support

• Prepare payroll inputs and statutory contributions with HR
• Support the annual audit and work with external tax advisers

Requirements

• Degree in accounting or finance
• 2+ years of full-cycle accounting in Hong Kong, ideally in travel, hospitality or services
• Group consolidation, intercompany billing and multi-currency reporting
• Profits tax, employer's returns (BIR56A / IR56B) and MPF
• HKFRS for Private Entities; progress towards HKICPA is a plus
• Cantonese and business English
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Valid right to work in Hong Kong
